Niseko Green Farm Experience.

From farm to fork, that's what the Green Farm is all about.

The Niseko Green Farm, located in Kutchan Town, is a certified organic farm that blends farming techniques from Japan and western cultures and today, we got the chance to hop along to experience Green Farm's pizza making tour.

When we first arrived at the farm, we were greeted by our very friendly host, Kaori-san. Kaori ushered us into the pizza dome where we were greeted by a very large, and warm, wood fired pizza oven.

Unfortunately, the weather was not on our side today. Nevertheless, we were able to check out the greenhouse where the tomatoes and peppers are growing. The tomatoes grown at the farm are used to make the tomato sauce base for the pizzas as well as, bottling them into Green Farm's own sun-dried tomatoes (also used in the pizzas)

On a sunny day, the tour will run for about 2 hours, with the host taking you through the farm to have a look at all the vegetables they grow. Whilst exploring the farm, you will have your chance to harvest your own vegetables to use on your pizza later - Talk about freshness!

Due to the heavy rains on the day, the farm crew very kindly harvested a range of vegetables for us including zucchinis, potatoes, basil, rucola and purple capsicums (first time we had ever seen purple capsicums).

The tip was to definitely use the potatoes as your topping. Kutchan is famed for their potatoes and this is no different at the Green Farm as their potatoes are extremely sweet.

After a quick explanation of how the pizza making process was going to go, we were given a demonstration by the pizza expert and we were good to go.

After piling our ready made pizza bases it was into the oven for only 6 minutes, and we where ready for lunch.

This activity is definitely catered to all ages, and very suitable for families. Children from 4 years old will be able to participate.
